Carsync is an innovative company in the services sector, specializing in digital solutions for fleet management and mobility. To meet increasing demands for scalability and agility, modernizing their underlying cloud infrastructure was required.

Project Description

Acting as Cloud Architect and DevOps Engineer, the focus was on the administration and optimization of cloud applications in AWS. The project encompassed Kubernetes management using AWS EKS, creating robust CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, and integrating various new services. The goal was to enhance the efficiency of cloud operations and streamline the development lifecycle for faster and more reliable deployments.

Team Size

The project was executed by an agile team (Scrum), estimated to consist of:

  • 1 Cloud Architect: Responsible for infrastructure design and strategic direction in AWS.
  • 2 DevOps Engineers: In charge of Kubernetes administration (EKS), CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • 3 Backend/Fullstack Developers: Focused on Kubernetes application development and integration of services like Kafka and MongoDB.
  • 1 Scrum Master / Product Owner: For agile management and requirements coordination.

Project Task

The primary tasks involved:

  • Kubernetes Administration in AWS: Configuring and managing Kubernetes clusters using AWS EKS for optimal performance.
  • GitLab CI/CD Pipeline Creation: Developing efficient CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for streamlined deployment processes.
  • User and Authorization Management: Administering user access and authorizations, leveraging LDAP for secure operations.
  • Kubernetes Application Development: Crafting and deploying applications in Kubernetes environments.
  • Service Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implementing robust monitoring solutions and effective troubleshooting of services.
  • Integration of New Services: Onboarding and integrating new services like Kafka and MongoDB into the existing infrastructure.
